Language notes
SourcesSurvey of Lochtayside: Carie p. 30-31: mentions Loin Brecht.

G nom. sg. fem. def. art. a’ (leniting) + nom. sg. coille, fem. ‘woodland + lenited fem. nom. sg. adj. breac, ‘speckled’ = ‘the speckled wood’

This is a very small place not mentioned on OS 1867. Loin Brecht could represent Lòn Breac and be related to present day Lonaville (Lòn a’ Bhile). This most likely reflects a coille name. RT, a local informant, says there are nearby Coille Dubh (‘no lenition locally’) and Coille Mhòr .
